Kiev is the city where the modern and the ancient create excellent possibilities for historical and aesthetical tourism. However, before you become a visitor to this mythical city, take your time to decide on at least two things: accommodation and transport.

Let us discuss picking an apartment. Depending on your budget and personal preference, you can either choose to stay in a Kiev hotel, or rent an apartment. Mind the class of Kiev hotels to evaluate the quality of the service and accommodation and the price you are willing to pay for it.

The Ukrainian capital has a number of five and four star hotels. There are literary tens and tens of less chic Kiev accommodation opportunities. A five star hotel will cost you around $400-850 per 24 hrs, four star hotels will be around $150-$500, 3 star hotels will be about $70-300, 2 stars will cost from $50 to 120 and small and one star hotels charge around 25-100 per night.

There are as well several hostels in the city for students and young people. In a regular hostel you can find unpretentious but fresh accommodation facilities and some sofas or beds in one room.

In case you want to spare some money, you can rent an apartment. For the cost of a modest hotel room in the price range of $90-150 you can rent a luxury flat in the city center. Single room cheep flats can be rent for no more than $50. Many companies that allow you to rent this kind of Kyiv apartments might even offer to meet you at the airport. The rule of thumb of here is to book the apartment some days ahead.

If you are pressed for money or would like to have something more extreme, you may rent sleeping space inside a train. There is a train depot not far from the train station
